Upward Smiles is primarily funded through Missouri Medicaid's partial reimbursement for dental services we provide to MoHealthNet (Missouri Medicaid) participants.  Missouri Medicaid's rate of reimbursement is not sufficient to provide adequate care to our patients.  We, therefore, rely on funding from outside sources.

The Jefferson Foundation has provided substantial support to Upward Smiles continuously since 2014, which has been vital to the rapid growth of services we are able to provide to the under-served and un-insured children of Jefferson County.  Their support has also increased awareness and our ability to expand services in the region. 

 

Without the Jefferson Foundation, we would have been unable to expand our Festus clinic to double its size in 2014.  We would not have one of the highest diagnostic quality 3D panoramic imaging machines.  We would not have the highest quality capital equipment necessary to operate a multi-site practice that serves so many patients.  We would not have beautiful, high-quality equipment in our Sedation Station annex - a concept created in early 2018, and subsequently funded in full by the foundation.
